Access Database
1. Can I use the Apps_AccessDatabase TLC function to update an existing Access Database?
Yes. Just remember, any changes you make are permanent. As with any program, we recommend you make a copy of the database and perform any tests against the copy until you are sure your program is working appropriately.
2. I cannot "see" a table in my Access database from within MS Query.
Sometimes what you may think is a table is really a “view”.
To see a “View” from within MS Query,
1. Go to the “Query Wizard – Choose Columns” panel,
2. Click the “Options” button,
3. Mark the “Views” on the “Table Options” panel,
4. Click “OK” and proceed.
3. What are the limitations to an Access database?
Microsoft Access Database – General (Limitations prior to Access 2007) As with any application, there are always specifications and limitations as to what can be done. The following details the specifications stated in the Microsoft Access Help files for Microsoft Access 2000, XP and 2003 versions. Microsoft Access database (.mdb) 2 gigabytes Number of objects in a database 32,768 Modules 1,000 Number of characters in an object name 64 Number of characters in a password 14 Number of characters in a user name or group name 20 Number of concurrent users 255.
4. When I open an Access database created by Xllerate®, why do I receive message to convert the database?
Xllerate® creates an Access Database in an early version of Access to insure maximum compatibility for all systems.
To open an Xllerate® created Access Database without converting the database, perform the following:
1. Select Open Database (user will see 2 options: “Open Database” and “Convert Database”),
2. Click the OK Button You may convert the Access Database to a more current version of Access (select “Convert Database” in step 1 above).
Remember to modify your Xllerate® code to reference the newly converted database name (you will be required to rename the Access Database during the conversion process).
Citrix
1. Will Xllerate® work in a Citrix environment?
You can try. We have not performed testing, but we have seen it work in a Citrix environment. If it works, then we are glad it will be able to help you with your tasks. The bottom line is that you should make sure if works during the free trial period. If it works, then you can consider buying it. Otherwise, just uninstall it.
Error Message
1. CLASS NOT REGISTERED. LOOKING FOR OBJECT WITH CLSID:(AC9F2F90-E877-11CE-9F68-00AA00574A4F) OR (0D452EE1-E08F-101A-852E-02608C4D0BB4) OR (A0E1B4E0-4DA7-11D3-93E2-00AA00CEDD44)
ISSUE: This problem may be caused by a missing or incorrect Microsoft Windows registry entry for the Dynamic Link Library Fm20.dll. The proper registration of this file is required when you work with User Forms and form controls in Microsoft Excel.
HOW TO FIX: The Fm20.dll is NOT redistributable. You must have an application such as Microsoft Office on the target system that installs Fm20.dll as part of its setup. (Fm20.dll is included with the OSR2 and OSR2.5 releases of Windows 95.) As an alternative to having your end users install Microsoft Office, you can have them freely download and install the Microsoft ActiveX Control Pad, which also installs the Fm20.dll. 2. I am getting an error message that XXX file cannot be found or XXX is the wrong version or XXX does not match. What happened?
Most likely, someone attempted to manually move the Xllerate® files from their required locations.
To “fix” this, you must “Repair” your installation. To Repair …
1. go to Start | Control Panel | Add / Remove Programs,
2. locate Xllerate in the list (it should be towards the bottom of the list),
3. click on the “click here for support information” hyperlink,
4. click the “Repair” button,
5. Wait until finished,
6. Open Excel, the error message should be gone.
3. Why do I get a message box wanting a password when I try to open the Xllerate.xla file?
The Xllerate.xla file is locked with a password and is not designed for Users to open. The adxloader.dll opens the Xllerate.xla file. To attach the adxloader.dll COM Add-in to your Excel…See the Xllerate® Help Manual (go to Xllerate | Xllerate Help OR the click the white question mark on blue circle icon on the Xllerate Toolbar) and perform a search on the keyword “COM”, “Add-in” and “attach”. To remove Xllerate® from the regular “VBA” add-in list go to Tools | Add-ins and unmark Xllerate®.
Excel
1. Delay in saving Excel workbooks
Outlook may be adding “journal” information to it’s files. This occurs when you install Outlook and Excel at the same time.
To turn journaling off, follow these steps:
1. Within Outlook, choose “Options” from the “Tools” menu (this will display the Options dialog panel).
2. Click on the “Journal” tab.
3. Make sure the Microsoft Excel check box is cleared in the “Also Record From” area of the dialog box.
4. Click the “OK” button to close the Options dialog box.
5. Exit Outlook and restart your computer.
2. Excel is acting strangely, not working
Excel starts acting strangely, is this an Xllerate® problem? No.
The most common cause of general Excel “strangeness” is not enough system resources. The solution is to exit Excel and re-start Windows. If possible, don’t run any other applications while you use Excel. This problem is not caused by Xllerate® per se. You may find that restarting Excel several times per day solves this type of problem.
You may also temporarily “disable” Xllerate® or set Xllerate® not to load at each start up of Excel. Also, it’s a good idea to keep track of which add-in programs are installed (use the Add-Ins command on the Tools menu). In addition, you may have add-ins in your XLStart directory. These add-ins are loaded every time Excel starts, and may not even be listed in the Add-Ins dialog box. Add-ins consume memory and resources, and there is no need to load them if you don’t use them. Look to see whether you really need these programs to be loaded at startup, or contact your System Administrator if you you’re unfamiliar with this process.

3. Excel menus are all frozen, nothing is clickable.
Excel has this frozen menu problem sometimes, regardless of Xllerate®.
Excel uses a “Excel.xlb” file to control the menu bar. You can locate that file and change the name to “backup.xlb”. Then restart Excel, this will force Excel to generate a new Excel.xlb which gives you a fresh start with the menu bar.
Please follow the steps below to give it a try:
1. Exit Excel
2. Excel.xlb can be found at C:\Documents and Settings\*USER_NAME*\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel (*USER_NAME* needs to be replaced by your actual user name. If you don’t know your username, go to C:\Documents and Settings\ and you should be able to recognize the folder of your user name, then go on to Application Data\Microsoft\Excel)
3. The file is a “.xlb” file but the “.xlb” extension may not show. So the file may look like a regular Excel file with a displayed name “Excel” (for Excel 2000) or “Excel11” (for Office 2003/XP).
4. Rename the file to “backup” or anything you like, then restart Excel.
5. You should get your Excel menu back. But if it does not work, you can always rename “backup.xlb” back to what it was before. This way you don’t lose anything.
6. The last resort is to simply uninstall and reinstall Office.

1. After I purchased Xllerate®, I only received a serial key in the order confirmation emails. Where do I download the “non-trial” final version of Xllerate®?
The trial version of Xllerate® is also the final version. Just enter the license key you received in the email and the trial 30 day limit is removed. To enter the license key, go to Start | Programs | Xllerate | License Manager. See also “License Activation” in the Xllerate® Help Manual.
2. I cannot activate license or I see a "Your license has expired" message.
You must purchase a license or uninstall Xllerate®.
3. Downloading Xllerate® from your web-site is very slow, or aborts partway through. What can I do?
Download speeds vary depending on the distance between you and our web-site, and can also vary depending on the time of day.
1. Download again at a different time of day. The internet is generally slower during the afternoon & evening USA time. Try downloading early in the morning or late at night.
2. If you are still unable to download, we will forward you a disk via the US Mail.
4. How big is the Xllerate® download file size?
The Xllerate® program is just under 65 MB (megabytes). Of that, approx. 15 MB is the Xllerate® Help and Reference Manual. Download Times: Dialup (56k) 71 minutes DSL/Cable (256k) 16 minutes DSL/Cable (768k) 5 minutes T1 (1.5MB) 3 minutes.
5. How do I know I have .NET Framework is installed on my computer?
Most computers have .NET Framework 1.1 installed. Xllerate® (as well as many newer software programs available in the market) require .NET Framework. To check if you have it installed, simply click on START, CONTROL PANEL, ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS and look for MICROSOFT .NET FRAMEWORK. If it is not there, download and install .NET Framework before you start to install Xllerate®. To download NET Framework, go to the Microsoft Support site.
6. How to activate my Xllerate® License, license activation
1. Click the “Start” button (in lower left corner of your screen);
2. Select “Programs”;
3. Select “Xllerate” from the programs list;
4. From the Xllerate list, select “License Manager”;
5. Select the “Internet Activate” icon.;
6. Enter the 15 digit license number we sent you in an email;
7. Press the “Activate” button.; Within a few moments, you will receive an activation complete message.

7. I cannot download the trial version of Xllerate®.
The download file has an EXE extension, denoting that it is an executable file. To download the EXE file, you may have to temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus software. After you downloaded the EXE file, double-click it to install all required files.
8. I downloaded Xllerate® but I cannot find it on my computer. Where is it? How can I find it?
The file you downloaded will have a filename of “Xllerate_2.0.exe” (or similar), so to find the file try searching all your hard disks as follows:
1) Click Start, then choose Search > For Files or Folders…
2) In the Search for files or folders field, type “Xllerate*.exe” (without the quotes and note the use of a *)
3) In the Look in field, select Local Hard drives to or My Computer to search your entire computer
4) Click Search Now to begin the search. If no files are found then it is likely the download was not successful and you should download the file again from our web-site
9. I installed Xllerate®, but the other Users of this computer cannot see it in Excel.
To fix…1. go to Start | Control Panel | Add / Remove Programs, 2. locate Xllerate in the list (it should be towards the bottom of the list), 3. click on the “click here for support information” hyperlink, 4. click the “Repair” button, 5. Wait until finished, 6. Open Excel, Xllerate should be there.
10. Several people use the same computer (with different logins). How come the others cannot see Xllerate®?
The fix is simple.
1. Log in as the User that cannot “see” Xllerate® in their Excel (you may have to do this for every User that cannot “see” Xllerate®),
2. go to Start | Control Panel | Add / Remove Programs,
3. locate Xllerate in the list (it should be towards the bottom of the list),
4. click on the “click here for support information” hyperlink,
5. click the “Repair” button,
6. Wait until finished,
7. Open Excel and Xllerate® should be there.
11. What are the system requirements?
The programs required are:
1. Excel 2007 and above (32-bit or 64-bit), VBA and Fm20.dll,

12. What happens at the end of the 30 day evaluation?
At the end of the 30 days free use the software will be disabled. It will not disable Microsoft Excel, or prevent you using your computer, simply the Xllerate® will be disabled. You will continue to receive a message telling you that the Xllerate® evaluation period has ended.
You then have two choices:
1. Purchase a license to use Xllerate®. For pricing & licensing information see our website
2. Uninstall the software. For more details please see Uninstalling Xllerate®.
13. When I enter my registration code it tells me that it is invalid. What should I do?
Make sure that you haven’t substituted a letter “l” for a number “1” or a letter “o” for a number “0”. All Xllerate® license keys are NUMERIC. The easiest way to make sure that you have the correct code is to copy and paste it directly from your confirmation email.
14. Where do I get a copy of NET Framework 1.1?
NET Framework is included with the Xllerate® installation. However, to download NET Framework, go to the Microsoft Support Site,
15. Why did I receive a "Security Warning" when I installed Xllerate®?
Excel will (by default) show the User any programs that attempt to run a “macro”. The User must decide if the program is valid. Xllerate® has a trusted certificate issued by VeriSign. For Xllerate® to work correctly, you must mark the “Always trust macros from this source” and press the “Enable Macros” button.
16. Why do I get "Run-time error "429" - ActiveX component can't create object?
This is normally caused by the Microsoft Scripting Runtime file not being properly registered on your PC. The error is completely unrelated to the add-in … but the add-in, like a lot of other software, requires the scripting runtime file to be installed correctly. Why is the scripting runtime not properly registered on your PC? A Google search of error 429 will show that there are thousands of reasons. However, Microsoft’s data access components (MDAC, DAO) seem to sometimes cause this error. The problem can normally be fixed by opening a command prompt (Start | Run) and typing REGSVR32 SCRRUN.DLL, and pressing enter. This registers the scripting runtime.
17. Why does Xllerate® require a User with Administration rights to install?
Xllerate® makes modifications to the registry, installs files and a service to track license key usage. If you work for a company, some IT environments do not allow end users to install any software. If you attempt to install Xllerate® and you do not have Administrative rights, the program will stop and let you know you do not have Administrative rights. If you have Administrative rights to your computer, you should have no issues installing Xllerate®. If you are an individual and you are installing Xllerate® on your personal computer, you should not have any issues.
18. Xllerate® menu is visible but the toolbar has disappeared from Excel. Where is the toolbar?
From the Excel main toolbar, click View | Toolbars to check whether Xllerate® is loaded but the toolbar is just hidden.
19. Xllerate® will not work on my Macintosh.
Xllerate® is not designed to work on a Macintosh.

1. Help, I have lost my license key.
If you lose your key, it will be restored without any charges. Please provide your order number, name and e-mail address and we will do our best to find your order in the database.
2. What kind of license do I get with Xllerate®?
The software license you receive with Xllerate® is perpetual per machine license. Any Users of the same machine may use the same license (i.e. you only need to purchase 1 copy of Xllerate® for all Users of the same physical computer. This does NOT apply to server installs). Xllerate® uses an online activation model to activate or transfer licenses. It is easy, self-serve, and real-time. Your machine needs to be online ONLY at the time of activation. 1. How do I disable/enable WSH Script?
Xllerate
1. Are there any sample programs?
The Xllerate® Help Manual has sample programs for every Xllerate® TLC function along with before and after view of the data. Also, visit our site for other sample programs. We will update the website as we develop additional sample programs.
2. Can I share my Xllerate® programs with others?
You can always share the output results of an Xllerate® program with others. Note: the Xllerate® formula functions (such as CreateDelimitedList and GetUserName) are only available to those Users who have Xllerate®. Also, in order to “run” an Xllerate® program, the other Users will need their own copy of Xllerate®.
3. Certain TLC functions take a long time to process (ex. Data_Subtotals or File_PageSetUp).
Data_Subtotals function was taking in excess of 2 minutes to run. Determined the issue was that the default printer on User’s computer was set to a printer that did not exist on network (or network was down). Several TLC functions use the printer driver to determine page breaks. Inserting page breaks calls for the page set-up function and uses the printer driver to do this. Try changing printer to another printer driver (like: Microsoft Document Imager) or by turning off the network connection. User should test by selecting another printer. Also, Users should determine if a more updated driver is available for their printer.
4. Does Xllerate® have any problems working with other Add-ins (addins)?
We have tested Xllerate® with several add-ins successfully. The only issue we have found is with Google Desktop for Excel add-in. We received a request for a “password” when closing Excel. We have researched this issue on the web and found that other Excel Add-ins were experiencing the same issue. The issue was found to be caused by Google Desktop (or any add-in using mscoree.dll as it loader). The Google Desktop issue did not affect all machines. See Issue: “I get a prompt asking for a password when closing Xllerate®. How do I get rid of this?” for the “fix”.
5. Does Xllerate® work on Non-English (foreign) Windows/Excel? (Spanish, French, Chinese, etc)
You can try. If it does not work, go to your computer’s “Start | Settings | Control Panel | Language & Regional Settings”, try setting it to English, and see if it works. If it works, then we are glad it will be able to assist you with your tasks. The bottom line is that you should make sure if works during the free trial period. If it works, then you can consider buying it. Otherwise, just uninstall it. Currently, Xllerate® is available in English only.
6. How can I get Xllerate® to run by itself (automatic, task scheduler)?

The “Review for Incomplete TLC Functions” process can be found on the menu bar under: Xllerate | About Xllerate | Additional Setup & Settings Information | Information – Incomplete TLC Functions OR click the “Eye Glasses” icon on the Xllerate Toolbar (The eye glasses stands for “take a look [i.e. “review”] at this program”).
8. How can I set my program worksheet to fill the current window?
On an Xllerate® program worksheet, columns A through L will be resized to fit in the window. The Fit to Window function can be found on the menu bar under: Xllerate | About Xllerate | Additional Setup & Settings Information | Settings – Current Prg Fit to Window.
9. How do I change what Outlook account my emails are sent from?
Xllerate® sends emails from your “Default” email account. If you would like to send emails from a different account, you may enter the “FROM Email Address” in Variable #2 (wsV2x) of the Apps_Outlook | Send TLC function. If Variable #2 is left blank, Xllerate® will send email(s) from the active (or default) Outlook Identity (See Xllerate | About Xllerate | License/Other | Mail Box Name to determine active Outlook Identity). If you enter a variable other than a blank or the default Outlook Identity, Xllerate® will determine if the user has “rights” to access the designated Outlook Identity, then send the email from that email address. If the user does not have rights to the designated Outlook Identity, then Xllerate® will send the email(s) from the active (or default) Outlook Identity.
10. How do I download stock information from Reuters, Yahoo, MSN, etc.
Use the File_MultiFunction | Open TLC function. Put http:// in wsV2 and the website info in wsV3 (ex. finance.yahoo.com/q/ae?s=[RESEARCHSYMBOL] and replace [RESEARCHSYMBOL] with the stock symbol of your choice … like Q)
11. How do I get my free trial version?

12. How do I know what my Mailbox name is?

For one time change, type the word “unprotect” in cell A1 of program worksheet.

We have found that most problems with printing can be due to the way that the printer is set up on a network. Changing the way that your network printer is set up may resolve these printing errors.
31. I am having an issue pasting values.
There is an issue with Excel 2003 (11.5612.5660). Please upgrade to Service Pack 2. This should “fix” the problem. You can get the SP2 update from the Microsoft Support Site OR You can visit Microsoft’s Office Update site.
32. I am running the Apps_Outlook TLC function, but I am not getting any data OR data is incomplete (i.e. missing email addresses). What is wrong?
Xllerate® uses another program called OTAsst.dll to access Outlook. If OTAsst is not registered properly, you may receive this type of message.
(A). Try re-registering OTAsst by…
1. going to Start | Control Panel | Add_Remove Programs,
2. locate Xllerate in the list (it should be towards the bottom of the list,
3. click on the “click here for support information” hyperlink,
4. click the “Repair” button. 5. Wait until finished and retry. If that does not work then,
(B) We tried testing Xllerate® on 70 different system configurations, yours may be a “flavor” we did not test. However, don’t worry, we have a solution for you.
1. Go to c:\program files\xllerate <<<< (this may be different depending on where you installed Xllerate®)
2. Look for the “bin” directory
3. Double click on the “bin” directory,
4. In the “bin” directory, you will find a .zip file named “ClickYesSetUp.zip”,
5. Unzip and install the program,
6. This program will place a small icon on the lower right of your screen,
7. When the icon has a check mark, it will automatically answer the Outlook warning messages,
8. When the icon has an X, it will not answer the Outlook warning messages. See the ClickYes Help for more information (see also http://www.contextmagic.com/express-clickyes/).
33. I cannot create an inactive published web page from my Excel workbook.
Excel 2000 only allows publishing of static web pages. If you are using Excel 2003/XP, make sure the web page name in Variable #3 (wsV3x) has an extension of .HTML or .HTM AND that you have rights to save a file to the directory indicated in Variable #2 (wsV2x).
34. I get a prompt asking for a password when closing Xllerate®. How do I get rid of this?
If you have installed the Google desktop search software and you are using Excel it is highly likely that you will get a request for an Excel add-in password when you close Excel. Get a “Password Problem Fixer” program at http://www.add-ins.com/password_problem.htm. This program works in Excel 97, 2000, 2002, XP, 2003, and 2007.
You can also perform the following step to remove the Google add-in from Excel…
1. Go to View | Toolbars | Customize,
2. Click the “Commands” tab,
3. Click “Tools” in the Categories list,
4. In the “Commands list” find “COM Add-ins” (about half way down),
5. Click on “COM Add-ins” and drag it up to an existing toolbar,
6. Click on the new “COM Add-Ins” button and remove any check mark next to “Google Desktop Office Addin”.
35. Is a printed copy of the Xllerate® Help manual (or training manual) available?
No, all help is provided in Xllerate® in an electronic format. The Xllerate® Help and Reference manual is over 800 pages. The Xllerate® Introductory Training Manual (“The Basics”) is 70 pages. Also, There are 3 levels of help in Xllerate®.
Level 1.
a. Keyword help to locate a TLC function (select Help from the MainMenu drop down list,
b. select a keyword or action from the drop down list,
c. continue refining your selection (using the same drop down list) until your desired function is located (i.e. the item in Column B will turn red).
Level 2.
Use “Help Tip” in cell A1. This will turn on the Help Tip comments on each variable of a new TLC function.
Level 3.
Select the Xllerate® Help Manual. You will be taken to the subject closest to your current TLC function or other item.
36. My Xllerate® program is running slow. Is there any way to speed it up?
Yes. You may set Excel’s calculation mode to “Manual”. See Tools_Options | Calculation in the Xllerate® Help Manual for more information. WARNING: be sure to turn calculation back to “Automatic” when appropriate.
37. My Xllerate® program's output is not calculated correctly. Why?
You may have set Excel’s calculation mode to “Manual” at a critical point in your program. See Tools_Options | Calculation in the Xllerate® Help Manual for more information.
38. The Xllerate® toolbar appears to be broken or nothing happens when I click on the icons.
1. If you see these symptoms, it may be because Xllerate® has been disabled. This sometimes happens in Excel 2002/XP/2003. This can be easily fixed. On the worksheet toolbar, click “Help | About Microsoft Excel”, then click the “Disabled Item” button, check to see if Xllerate® has been disabled. If Xllerate® is in there, “Enable” it.
2. You may have Xllerate® “set” not to load (see the icon that looks like a diskette or looks like a dotted box with a red X). If the icon is set to a dotted box with a red X, Xllerate® is set not to load at the startup of Excel. Click this icon and change it to a diskette and Xllerate® will load at the startup of Excel.
39. What are the limitations of the evaluation (trial) version?
1. There is a 30 days usage limitation.
2. There is a remainder message box indicating the number of days left in your evaluation period. If you are testing how Xllerate® works with the Task Scheduler, you will have to answer the “Evaluation Period” message box manually. This message box will NOT display on a fully licensed version of Xllerate®. Other than that, you are evaluating the full product, complete with the online help & tutorials available.
40. What is an Excel Add-in?
An Excel Add-in is a program designed to enhance Excel’s functionality. To Users, Xllerate® appears to be an integral part of Excel.
41. When Xllerate® connects with Outlook, it always gives a warning message and asks me to allow the program to access Outlook. I thought this was automatic?

43. Why is Xllerate® not listed in the Add-Ins list under Tools - Add-Ins?
Xllerate® is a COM Add-In. The files listed in the Tools Add-Ins list are Excel files with *.xla and *.xll extensions.
44. Xllerate® does not work when I try to run it from Microsoft Word or Microsoft PowerPoint.
Xllerate® was not designed to run from any other program other than Excel.
45. Xllerate® does not work with my Excel.
Xllerate® does not work with Excel 97 or Excel 2000. There are no plans to create a version for Excel 97 or Excel 2000. Xllerate® only works for Excel 2002, 2003, XP and 2007.
46. Xllerate® does not work with my Outlook Express, Lotus Notes, Hotmail, or Gmail accounts.
Currently, Xllerate® only interfaces with Outlook. Future releases will include integration with other types of email accounts.
47. Xllerate® Help

4. Select COM Add-Ins… from the Commands List,
5. With your mouse, pick up and move the COM Add-Ins… to an existing toolbar,
6. Release your mouse key…and the COM Add-Ins should be added to the selected toolbar,
7. Click on the COM Add-Ins…,
8. If the XllerateCOM is listed, then click the check box next to it,
9. Click the OK button and Xllerate® will install.
